Backup & sync

Data backup on every platform — local backups, iCloud sync, HUAWEI Cloud.

Backup & sync

On every platform, study data lives on your device by default. On top of that, each platform has its own backup and sync story.

Android: full local backup

In Settings → Backup, export a .ggsbak file — a complete snapshot of all decks, cards, images, review history, study sessions, and reminders.

  • Restoring is the same in reverse: import a .ggsbak, with a preview before committing
  • Turn on the in-app periodic backup reminder (3 days / 1 week / 2 weeks / 1 month), and remember to copy backup files somewhere safe

iOS: iCloud sync

The iOS app offers iCloud sync: decks, cards, images, and study sessions stay consistent across your Apple devices.

  • Syncing goes through your own iCloud account, encrypted; we cannot access the contents
  • Sync status is visible in settings, including handling for iCloud storage limits
  • Local .ggsbak export is available here too

HarmonyOS: HUAWEI Cloud backup

The HarmonyOS app supports HUAWEI Cloud backup: sign in with your HUAWEI ID to store .ggsbak snapshots in HUAWEI Cloud storage.

  • Snapshots are listed by time, showing device, deck count, card count, and size
  • Sign in on a new device to restore

Deleted something by accident?

Every platform has a recently deleted recycle bin: deleted decks and cards are kept for a retention window (30 days by default, configurable 3–90 days) and can be fully recovered — including images and review history.
